"My thinking when creating visual art is actually based in art history and includes traditional concepts such as using varieties of lines, exploring depth, experimenting with color relationships, dealing with negative/positive space, having the work show an overall energy...The newest paintings allow me to be inventive from the beginning of a painting until the end," explains Marlene.
Marlene's work is in corporate and private collections throughout Missouri. She is very active in many art organizations and has been in local, regional and national exhibits as well.
"My work comes out of painting as a language; the history of abstraction; digital images; Eastern imagery; and other sources. For me there is meaning in the tactile."
